Chanchal Sharma, Center Head of Oakland Preschool, Udaipur, begins her address on the occasion of Teachers Day by extending warm greetings to all and wishing everyone a Happy Teachers Day.

With humility, she expresses her gratitude to all her teachers who have shaped her life and brought her to the position she holds today. She also takes a moment to offer her deepest thanks to her Guru, Mr. Vikramaditya Singh Rathor, who, she says, has been much more than a guide—he has been a true mentor who has illuminated her path with wisdom and direction.

Chanchal Sharma reflects on the essence of a Guru, emphasizing that a Guru is not just a person but an entire universe in themselves. She explains that a Guru gives one the ability to understand far beyond one’s own capacity and to see clarity even in the midst of confusion.

A Guru’s role, she shares, is not only to guide but also to awaken faith within the disciple. For her, the relationship between Guru and disciple is deeply rooted in trust. While it is essential for a disciple to believe in the Guru, she stresses that it is equally important for the Guru to have faith in the disciple. This mutual trust, she believes, is what creates a transformative and powerful bond.

She beautifully describes a Guru as a source of immense brightness who does not allow darkness to exist around them. Their support and guidance remove the shadows from our lives and prepare us to face the challenges ahead. At times, a Guru may appear harsh, she explains, but that harshness is nothing but preparation for the realities of life. Since we cannot predict what difficulties life may bring, it is the Guru who ensures that we are equipped to face them with courage and strength.

In today’s world, Chanchal Sharma says, the role of a Guru extends far beyond imparting knowledge. A true Guru guides the disciple holistically, preparing them physically, morally, mentally, and spiritually for every stage of life. A Guru is not limited to being the teacher who instructs in schools or colleges; a Guru is anyone who teaches us something meaningful. With conviction, she states that every person who imparts wisdom or goodness in our lives deserves to be respected as a Guru.
